Top 7 Social Media Marketing Apps for Visual Artists

Is social media taking up too much of your time? In this post discover 7 social media marketing apps that will help you save time so you can spend more time in the studio creating art.

Imagine your life without your smartphone.

When was the last time you left the house without your smartphone?

When was the last time you watched a full T.V. commercial without grabbing your smartphone?

When was the last time you were a passenger in a car without scrolling through your Facebook News Feed?

If you answered, “I can’t remember.” You are like most of us.

There is no arguing that mobile devices have made our life easier.

If you need directions, you click on an app.

If you want to hear your favorite music, you click on an app.

If you want to find a restaurant, you click on an app.

If you need a ride, you click on an app.

Apps have made our busy lives manageable, and there are some social media marketing apps I found very helpful that I am going to share with you.

Social media marketing is strategies and tactics used to build awareness of a product or service targeting social networks.

Social media has made it possible for a small family owned businesses like yours, to make a career doing what you love.

Selling art online is easy if you think about it. All you need is a website or a platform like Etsy to showcase your art and time to promote.

Social media will play an important role in your marketing efforts. However, if you are not careful you could easily find social media eating up your time making it difficult to do other important tasks.

Not too long ago, it was almost impossible for a small business to compete with large businesses.

Small businesses did not have the marketing budget to build brand awareness like the larger businesses did. Larger business would spend money on T.V., radio, newspaper, and magazine ads.

Today marketing is affordable for everyone. The winner is the person or business that creates the best content.

The problem for artists is we work alone. Creating art, taking pictures of the art, uploading the images, writing content, engaging with potential buyers, social media and shipping products all take time.

We need to take advantage of every tool that is available for us to make our lives a little easier. Here are some apps I found that make my social media marketing a little easier.

As an artist, you know that the day can pass by in the blink of an eye. It can also be difficult for people to be productive working at home with all of the distractions.

Pomodoro Time might be the solution to your problems.

This is a time managing system that involves working for twenty-five minutes followed by a short break.

Studies have shown that taking small breaks throughout the day will greatly improve your productivity.

Be Focused is a free focus timer and goal tracker for work app.

If you struggle with staying focused on one task at a time, this app might be exactly what you have been waiting for.

Social media is visual. When you scroll down your favorite social media network you will see your News Feed filled with images and videos.

The problem is that the image dimensions are different for each social media network. This makes it difficult for you to market your artwork on multiple platforms.

I have stumbled upon Canva a few years back and it is still my go-to app for creating images for my social media marketing strategies.

Canva is easy to use and it has templates for the most popular social media networks.

All you have to do is pick the temple for the social site you are creating an image for.

Create your image then publish it. The size will be perfect every time.

No more trying to remember the dimensions for each network you are publishing on. Canva does that for you.

How many times have you looked back at your social posts and you found simple spelling and grammar mistakes?

I have found an easy to use app that will help you solve this problem.

The tool will highlight any errors making it easy to notice and address.

This tool will save you time revising simple mistakes from posts you have already published. Take a few seconds, and copy and paste your text into Hemingway and fix any mistakes before you publish your thoughts on social media.

This can be done with the most popular social media networks.You can even let Buffer decide what the best times to post your content is.

I have put this list together to help get you started.

You might want to consider making a goal to read one or two marketing books a year.

The more you learn, the stronger your art business will become.

Anyone can make money selling art. Of course, you will have to enhance your artist skills in the beginning, but there will be a point where you can make money selling art.  All you have to do is showcase your art to the right people, your target audience.

Your target audience is the people who follow you on your social media networks. They are the ones who are interested in your artistic style and feel a connection to your art.

Your job after they have started following you on your social sites is to provide content on a regular schedule so they do not forget about you.

The best way to save time is to create a social media marketing calendar.  Take some time and write out what you would like to share on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and what other networks you are using for each day of the week.

Use the apps I shared with you to create, deliver and assess the progress of the content you are publishing.

Success comes from planning, and a social media marketing calendar should be a part of your art marketing plan.
